    Georgian-Dutch business forum was held in Tbilisi today, being attended by representatives of 10 Dutch and 63 Georgian companies.

    According to Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the companies represented such agricultural activities as horticulture, greenhouse faming, additives for pig and poultry feeding, etc., as well as international consulting, water management, infrastructure, security systems and equipment for driving schools.

    Giorgi Kapanadze, vice-president of Association of Young Financiers and Businessmen, declared that price growth on local Internet market was “absolutely unjustified”.

    Currently, several tens of companies operate on the market, but 60% of it is divided between Caucasus Online and SilkNet, respectively, “they are establishing rules of the game”, Kapanadze pointed.

    United National Movement (UNM) declared that JSC Georgian Greenhouse Corporation, which single owner is LLC GCF Partners, got preferential loan of $2 million for arrangement of greenhouse farming in Gardabani (Kvemo Kartli region).

    As the opposition party noted, GCF Partners was founded on May 25, 2013 and its shares are equally distributed among Ucha Mamatsashvili, cousin of ex-premier and billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili, and Giorgi Bachiashvili, director general of Georgian Co-Investment Fund.

    According to planned amendments to Tax Code, owners of cars, which were brought in the country until April 1, will be exempted from penalties if the car will be registered before September 1.

    Car importers positively estimate these amendments, but note that they had initiated amnesty, applying to cars, already fined by April 1, but not those, which were brought to the country by that date, the article reports.

  7. ADVISER OF NBG’S PRESIDENT: WE EXPECT STABILIZATION OF LARI EXCHANGE RATE BY SUMMER

    Giorgi Bakradze, adviser of president of National Bank of Georgia (NBG), declared that current lari exchange rate is conditioned by short-term problems, so its stabilization has to be expected by summer, noting that it is still difficult to predict at what mark fluctuations will stop.

    Import has decreasing since February, which means that currency outflow also decreases, Bakradze specified at lecture-seminar, organized by International School of Economy at Tbilisi State University (ISET) on April 2.

    National Tourism Administration declared to the newspaper that “within summer marketing campaign, advertising of Georgia is planned in the following markets: Azerbaijan, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Israel, Kazakhstan, Latvia and Hungary”. “At the same time, campaign will be carried out on Euronews.

    Plant, manufacturing parts for civil aircrafts, will be constructed in Tbilisi (near the airport), Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development declared. According to the Ministry, the project worth $85 million will be implemented jointly by Georgian Partnership Fund and Israeli defense electronics manufacturer Elbit.

    Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Giorgi Kvirikashvili said that Georgia joins as founder country to Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), which will be led by China.

    The Minister declared this in live show Business Contact of broadcasting company Maestro today and noted that representatives of his agency as well as of the Finance Ministry are already working with future partners.

    Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air will abolish since April 20 its Ukrainian subsidiary Wizz Air Ukraine.

    Former head of Georgian Tourism Administration and current vice-chairman of Protected Territories Agency Giorgi Sigua says that “for us, it means, first of all, cancellation of Kutaisi-Kiev flight that in numbers is loss of 30,000-35,000 Ukrainian tourists”.

    Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Giorgi Kvirikashvili declared that JSC Georgian Greenhouse Corporation, which got land sites in Gardabani (Kvemo Kartli region) within state program “Produce in Georgia”, will invest $45 million in this property.

    Kvirikashvili made this statement in response to blames of oppositional National Movement, which claimed that ex-prime minister Bidzina Ivanishvili “got hold of property worth 2.5 million for 1 lari”.
