    Georgian state institutions will use completely legal software of Microsoft, administration of the government reported.

    Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, Microsoft’s president for Central and Eastern Europe Don Grantham and Microsoft-Georgia’s director David Asatiani signed the respective agreement in Tbilisi today.

  3. GEORGIA TO HOST THE 3RD EURASIAN SKI RESORTS CONFERENCE IN 2017

    Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Giorgi Kvirikashvili reported that Georgia will host in 2017 the 3rd Eurasian Ski Resorts Conference, which will be held under auspices of World Tourism Organization (WTO of the UN).

    The Minister has announced it at the government’s meeting today and noted that over 300 managers of mountain resorts, president of WTO Taleb Rifai and other officials will attend the event.

  4. FINANCE MINISTER: BECAUSE OF POPULATION’S SOCIAL INTERESTS, TAXES NOT TO RISE

    “We decided not to raise taxes, considering the population’s social interests”, Finance Minister Nodar Khaduri told journalists today.

    “Regarding expenditure, reduction will affect only running costs and neither capital, nor social expenses will decrease”, the Finance Minister pointed.

    Drop of lari exchange rate is commented by expert Mikhail Dundua, former vice-president of National Bank of Georgia (NBG) Merab Kakulia and Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, ex-president of NBG Nodar Javakhishvili.

    According to Dundua, president of NBG Giorgi “Kadagidze lied when said that he provided enough dollars to economy”.

  6. PRESIDENT OF NATIONAL BANK OF GEORGIA: NBG DOESN’T PLAN TO SPEND RESERVES

    President of National Bank of Georgia (NBG) Giorgi Kadagidze responded today to accusations, expressed recently by ex-premier Bidzina Ivanishvili and government members, and said that NBG doesn’t plan to spend reserves it order to strengthen lari exchange rate.

    As Kadagidze stated, devaluation is caused by fundamental economic reasons and spending reserves will be inadequate decision in this situation.

    The government together with IMF is working on new forecast of economic growth. In this connection, the newspaper cites the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Giorgi Kvirikashvili, who expects that real economic growth to be about 2%.

    Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Giorgi Kvirikashvili declared that “in future, while attracting investments, those ones, which are directed to development of export-oriented production, must have special support”.

    It is important for Georgian government to determine the priorities in terms of export-oriented industries’ encouragement, said Kvirikashvili at today’s meeting with delegation of the World Bank (WB).

    Within 1 week, Georgian commercial banks will present plan, how they will act in respect of those individuals, who have taken loans in the US dollars, while have income in lari.

    Development of such plan for ease of currency burden on retail borrowers was ordered by president of National Bank of Georgia (NBG) Giorgi Kadagidze at today’s meeting with the banks’ managers.

    Economy and Sustainable Development Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Finance Minister Nodar Khaduri held meetings today, connected to economic situation in the country.

    In particular, Economy and Sustainable Development Ministry reported that Kvirikashvili held with representatives of IMF, discussing specific measures, planned by the government, and ongoing economic processes (Khaduri had met with IMF mission on February 23).

    Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Finance Minister Nodar Khaduri presented the government’s action plan, which aims overcome of situation, created with national currency.

    The plan, which aims improvement of currency misbalance, development of economy, promotion of business, and as a result, improvement of situation in medium-term, the government’s economic team has presented at the meeting, held with representatives of Georgian Business Association today.

  12. FORMER GOVERNOR OF KVEMO KARTLI ACCUSED OF POWER ABUSE

    Investigative Department of the Finance Ministry accused former governor of Kvemo Kartli region David Kirkitadze of power abuse.

    As the Department specified, “the investigation revealed that special machinery, belonged to Kvemo Kartli region, performed in 2011-2012 by Kirkitadze’s decree free of charge works during construction of car market on Tbilisi-Rustavi highway, violating thus Georgian legislation”.

  13. CAUCASUS NATURE FUND TO FINANCE GEORGIA’S NATIONAL PARKS WITH 1M EUR

    National parks of Georgia will receive grant of 1 million EUR from Caucasus Nature Fund (CNF).

    The grant agreement was signed today by Georgia’s Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Protection Elguja Khokrishvili, chairman of Protected Territories Agency Giorgi Shovnadze and program director of CNF Daniel Sepic.

  14. ECONOMY MINISTER: ECONOMIC GROWTH TO BE ABOUT 2-2.5%

    “We expect the economic growth to be about 2-2.5%”, Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Giorgi Kvirikashvili declared.

    The Parliament approved yesterday new candidates for 3 vacant posts in National Communication Commission with office term of 6 years.

    Among new members of the Commission are Merab Katamadze (86 votes “pro”, 9 – “contra”), Eliso Asanidze (82 votes “pro”), Giorgi Pruidze (81 votes “pro”, 18 – “contra”).

  18. “COMPANY FOR SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT” SPENT 7.3M LARI FOR ARRANGEMENT OF 19 LANDFILLS IN 2014

    Giorgi Shukhoshvili, director of Company for Solid Waste Management, reported that 19 landfills were arranged and put in operation in 2014, for which end 7.3 million lari was spent.

    Shukhoshvili said this, while reporting on the company’s activity for 2014 and plans for 2015.

    Today, economic team of the government discussed a situation in connection with lari exchange rate (recent sharp devaluation of lari).

    A working meeting was attended by Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Finance Minister Nodar Khaduri, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure David Shavliashvili, Tbilisi Mayor David Narmania, secretary of Economic Council Giorgi Gakharia and other officials.

  20. THE GOVERNMENT REQUESTS ADDITIONAL FUNDS FROM IMF

    In order to stabilize lari rate, Georgian government requests additional funds from IMF.

    “On Monday, we will have a meeting with the IMF mission and will consider volume of an unplanned infrastructural package”, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Giorgi Kvirikashvili declared after the government’s meeting today.
