    Chairman of Azerbaijani Milli-Mejlis, Murtuz Aleskerov stated this today, in the coarse of his visit in Tbilisi. According to Georgian Parliament’s press services, during his meeting with Chairman of Parliament Zurab Zhvania, Aleskerov stressed, “We have always been together when realizing those strategic aims, that politically and economically mean stabilized South Caucasus”.

    The draft budget-2001 basically agrees with the IMF recommendations – this is how the Finance Minister Zurab Nogaideli motivated his optimism at the government session today.

    On his turn, President Shevardnadze called for the whole economic and financial bloc of the government to conduct “a serious work” for the forthcoming visit of the Fund’s mission, as “the condition of our economics depends on it in many ways”.

    The Poti port is going to file a suit against the company Sameba, as it thinks that the land plot of the 7th container terminal does not belong to this firm, the source at the State Property Management Ministry told Sarke.

    However, according to the Sameba director Zurab Tkemaladze, 2.12 hectares of the land of this terminal was given to this company for the construction of the terminal of spirits, mineral- and well-waters.

    Commenting the government’s refusal to support the key parameters of the budget-2000 introduced by the Finance Ministry, the Minister of Labor, Health Care and Social Welfare Avtandil Jorbenadze said, “this question should not be overdone”. He thinks that some of the articles published in the press might “lead to the war with the Finance Ministry”.

  14. FINANCE MINISTRY AND HEALTH CARE MINISTRY HAVE DIFFERENT OPINIONS ABOUT READINESS TO SHIFT TO PENSION INSURANCE

    According to the Finance Minister Zurab Nogaideli, Georgia will not be able to shift to the pension insurance system in the next 5-10 years. The Finance Ministry and Ministry of Health Care did not accorded this question and did not made appropriate calculations, consequently the system is not in the position to work, said Nogaideli.
