    National Communication Commission said that despite growth of subscribers’ number in segment of fiber-optical networks, market share of Caucasus Online decreased in 2011.

    According to the Commission’s annual report, number of subscribers of Caucasus Online’s fiber-optical networks made up 95,640 as of end of 2011, increasing by 13.2% since the 1st quarter of the same year.

  3. TBILISI’S SHARE IN TOTAL TURNOVER MADE UP 73.8%

    Sakstat reported that in the 1st quarter, Tbilisi accounted again for ultimate share in total turnover and output of Georgian enterprises. Namely, the capital’s share in total turnover (8.1 billion lari) made up 73.8%.

    Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that real property in Didube-Chugureti district of Tbilisi (Constitution Str. 4) was sold for 1.28 million lari. Owner of 6 buildings became private individual Ivane Totchava.

    Tbilisi energy distributor JSC TELASI reported that it is going to pay dividends from profit of 2011. The issue will be considered at general annual meeting of shareholders, being scheduled on June 28.

  7. “AIR ASTANA” TO LAUNCH REGULAR FLIGHTS ASTANA-TBILISI FROM SEPTEMBER

    Kazakh air company Air Astana will perform regular flights between Astana and Tbilisi, starting from September 1.

    According to Kazakhstan’s Embassy to Georgia, the flights will be provided twice a week by Embraer-190.

    National Communication Commission reported that SilkNet accounted for 76% of the market in terms of DSL-subscribers’ number in 2011.

    This company had 155,012 DSL-subscribers by late 2011, increasing their number by 17.3% since the 1st quarter of that year.

    National Communication Commission reported that important change took place on fixed telephony market in 2011: number of users of wireless technologies (CDMA) exceeded number of subscribers of wired communications (public switched telephone network, PSTN).

    By the end of the 4th quarter, number of CDMA subscribers made up 731,637, while of PSTN – 590,845.

    Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulating Commission extended powers of interim manager of Tbilisi gas distributor, LLC KazTransGaz-Tbilisi, by another year, chair of the Commission Guram Chalagashvili told Sarke. Correspondingly, the manager will stay in the company until May 1, 2013.

  12. GEORGIAN AND MOLDAVIAN NATIONAL BANKS TO START COOPERATION

    Presidents of National Banks of Georgia and Moldavia signed memorandum on cooperation in Tbilisi today.

    According to the agreement, the sides undertake within their competence assistance to establishment of business relations between Georgian and Moldavian banking and financial institutions, as well as to share practice.

  14. POSITIVE MIGRATION BALANCE INCREASED BY 16.1% IN 2011

    Sakstat reported that positive migration balance has increased during 2011 by 16.1% and reached 20,000 persons.

    As of January 1, 2012, Georgia’s population exceeded 4.49 million people, increasing year-on-year by 0.6%.

  15. EFSE TO ALLOCATE UP TO $40M TO GEORGIA’S FINANCIAL SECTOR

    European Fund for Southeast Europe (EFSE) will allot up to $40 million to Georgian financial sector, the Premier Nika Gilauri declared today at the annual meeting of the Fund, which was held in Tbilisi for the first time.

    As the Premier noted, EFSE has already invested about $70 in Georgia, while negotiations regarding allocation of additional investments are underway.

  16. GERMANY TO ALLOT 57M EUR TO GEORGIA

    Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri declared that German government will allot 57 million EUR to Georgia. The Premier said this after meeting with the Germany’s Federal Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development Dirk Nibble in Tbilisi.
