    TBC Bank plans to open new branch in Tbilisi, acquiring for that end real property in Digomi on the auction, announced by Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development. TBC Bank paid 376.96 square m for the object of 376.96 square m.

    Ketevan Tsikhelashvili, director of Tbilisi Liberal Academy, says that in 2011 foreign direct investment amounted in Georgia to $980 million, while money transfers exceeded $1.268 million. Last year, share of remittances in GDP was 9.2%, while share of country’s agriculture, employing 54% of country’s population, made up 8.5% only.

  4. GEORGIA DISCUSSES NEW PROJECTS WITH ADB

    New projects were discussed during the meeting, which was held in Georgian Finance Ministry with vice-president of Asian Development Bank (ADB) Xiaoyu Zhao.

    As the Ministry reported, the projects, planned to implement through ADB’s support, include construction of new highway Tbilisi-Rustavi, shore protection in Anaklia, bridges construction, etc.

  5. ITALY IS READY TO ALLOT 30M EUR FOR TRADE-INVESTMENT PROJECTS IN GEORGIA

    Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) informed that Italy is ready to allot 30 million EUR in terms to fund trade-investment projects in Georgia.

    Readiness to cooperate with Georgia was expressed by representatives of Investment Agency of Italy’s Finance Ministry during working visit of GCCI head Kakha Baindurashvili in this country.

    Development of MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) tourism in Georgia requires existence of infrastructure, as well as marketing activity and staff education, head of Georgian Entrance Travel Operators Association Ia Tabagari told Sarke.

    Existence of only one exhibition center in Tbilisi, which has only one exhibition hall at that, is definitely not enough, Tabagari noted.

    Temur Chkonia, founder of LLC T&K Restaurants (owner of McDonalds’s restaurants in Georgia), declared about opening of new fast-food outlets in Tbilisi and Batumi, planned in summer.

    McDonald’s restaurant on Tsereteli Avenue in Tbilisi will be opened in late June, in Batumi – in July.

  11. PARTNERSHIP FUND TO INVEST $3M IN GACHIANI COOL-HOUSE

    Georgian Partnership Fund is going to invest $3 million in refrigerator facility in Gachiani (Kvemo Kartli region, near Rustavi).

    As the Fund’s chief investment officer Kakha Khizanishvili declared, negotiations regarding additional resources attraction for the project with total cost of $7 million will be brought to end soon.
