   Club of Diplomats, founded by former ambassadors of Georgia, considers that appointment of Giorgi Kvirikashvili (former Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development) as Foreign Minister is “a message, that advantage was given to economic instead of political model”.

   “Moving focus from politics to economic is implemented through minimization of political, diplomatic activity”, members of the Club say, noting at that: “Growing economic crisis in the country indicates that neither economic effect could be reached this way”.

3. NBG’S PRESIDENT: ARTIFICIAL STRENGTHENING OF EXCHANGE RATE IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE FOR SUCH SMALL ECONOMY AS GEORGIA

   President of National Bank of Georgia (NBG) Giorgi Kadagidze declared that “Artificial strengthening of exchange rate for such small economy as Georgia is almost impossible”.

   “Even Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, which are rich with resources, could not do it”, Kadagidze said.

   Rate of national currency started fluctuation from November 2014 – worsening of current account deficit in the 4^th quarter imposed pressure on lari and became the first factor for devaluation, Tkhelidze says.

    Today, the Parliament overcame (with 81 votes) the President’s veto on amendments to law “On National Bank of Georgia”, envisaging separation of banking sector supervision from NBG.

    To remind, international organizations negatively estimated the mentioned amendments.

    Yesterday, the Premier Irakli Garibashvili has met with resident representative of IMF and “considered several additional remarks, presented by IMF”, Kvirikashvili said.
