    Tbilisi hosted today Georgian-Chinese business-forum, being organized by Georgian National Investment Agency. China was represented by 10 companies from heavy and light industries, construction, communications, agriculture and tourism.

    The Georgian President initiated construction of new city Lazika in Samegrelo region, between sea-resort Anaklia and port Kulevi. It is planned that Lazika should become the major trade, economic and business center of western Georgia.

    As the newspaper notes, several areas for installation of new booths (within tender, announced by Tbilisi City Hall) are identical to those places, where old press distribution booths have been placed.

    Those places, which the City Hall took away from press distributors and hand over to the chicken and eggs distributors, are locating on central streets, while lease fee reaches several thousands in some cases, the newspaper reports.

    Misha Tavkhelidze’s traditional column is dedicated to Tbilisi City Hall’s tender, which envisages placement of 1,000 booths of unified design, able to trade with any commodity.

    Tavkhelidze is not sharing positions of media and civil activists, who have organized a protest action with demand to maintain specialized newsstands and blamed the government for fighting against a free press.

  6. FOURTH EMPLOYMENT FORUM IS ORGANIZED

    Tbilisi exhibition center Expo-Georgia hosted an employment forum today.

    The event is being organized already the 4th time within the USAID-funded 2-year project on consulting and employment (previous ones were held in Tbilisi, Batumi and Kutaisi), Natia Kvitsiani, representative of International Migration Organization, which implements the project, told Sarke.

    Estonian carrier Estonian Air plans to start direct flights to Georgia. From April 2012, the company is going to carry out 4 flights Tallinn-Tbilisi weekly.

    Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili has pardoned arrested Israeli businessmen Ron Fuchs and Zeev Frenkiel, taking into consideration “their age and health state” and on basis of “request of the Israeli government and the Israeli President”. Manana Manjgaladze, spokesperson for the President, declared the mentioned to journalists today.

    The newspaper reports that 300 persons were gathered at the action “I Read Newspapers”, held yesterday near Tbilisi City Hall.

    Initially, representatives of Georgian Press Association and ordinary citizens were participating at the action, however later, Republicans, Labourists, Christian-Democrats, representatives of People’s Party and non-governmental organizations had joined the meeting.

  19. BANK “CONSTANTA” ISSUED DEBIT CARDS

    Bank Constanta told Sarke that it has issued about 3,000 debit cards, which offer was started this month.

    Starting the beginning of the next year, the bank is going to issue credit cards as well.

    Since today, VIP clients of Sakartvelos Banki (Bank of Georgia) will be served in premium-class hall in Tbilisi International Airport. For that end, the bank will grant them a special card, issued jointly with TAV Operation Service (managing company of non-aviation revenue of the airport operator, TAV Holdings).
