2. THE EU TO ALLOT 1.4M EUR FOR METROLOGY AND STANDARDIZATION STRENGTHENING IN GEORGIA

   The project “Metrology and Standardization Strengthening According to the EU’s Best Practice” was launched today in Tbilisi, being funded by EU with 1.4 million EUR.

   The project aims assistance provision to Economy and Sustainable Development Ministry’s National Agency of Standards, Technical Regulations and Metrology.

3. BIDZINA IVANISHVILI DRAWS ATTENTION TO EMPLOYMENT

5. Rezonansi: “CONSENT ON RUSSIA’S ACCESSION TO WTO NOT TO BRING US ECONOMIC BENEFITS”

   Giorgi Gaganidze, subdean of Economics and Business Faculty of Tbilisi State University, says that Georgia has never considered economic dividends as subject of bargain on negotiations concerning Russia’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO). “Our consent to this offer means that Abkhazia and South Ossetia are occupied territories for Georgia and we do not to resign ourselves to violence”, he declares.

6. SHARE OF TBILISI IN ISSUED CREDITS IS DECLINED

   National Bank of Georgia reported that in terms of loans’ distribution among Georgian regions, Tbilisi accounted for 78.8% of total credits issued as of October 1.

   To compare, as of the 1^st quarter, the same rate made up 80.8%, decreasing to 79.8% in the 2^nd quarter.

7. 6,541 CONSTRUCTION PERMISSIONS ISSUED WITHIN 9-MONTHS

   Sakstat reported on 6,541 construction permissions, issued within 9 months of the year. To compare: there were 6,635 permissions issued during whole 2010.

   Sakstat reported that construction of 1,098 objects was finished within 9 months, resulting in total area of 569,793 square m.

   Residential housing accounts for 41.3% of completed objects (455 objects with area of 231,425 square m).

    Mobile communication operator Mobitel (trademark of Beeline) reported that its strategic partner, French Alcatel held “the world premiere” of new mobile phone model ONE Touch 818 in Tbilisi today.

    After Tbilisi, presentation is planned in Paris, Shanghai, etc., Mobitel noted.

12. “PRIVATBANK” CONTINUES NETWORK EXPANSION

    PrivatBank has reported that one more service-center will be opened in Tbilisi (Dadiani Str. 34 in Nadzaladevi district) for coming days, which will became the 33^rd in the city. After it’s opening, countrywide number of the bank’s outlets to reach 93.

13. DUTY-FREE SHOP IS OPENED FOR DIPLOMATIC CORPS IN VAKE

    Company Duty Free Alliance opened today duty-free shop Diplomat in Tbilisi’s elite district Vake (Chavchavadze Ave. 74b). The shop, located on 150 square m, will serve diplomats, working in Georgia, and persons, equated to them.

14. “NARCISSUS” INTRODUCES ISO 2200 AND HACCP

    Confectionary producer Narcissus has announced that introduction of ISO 22000 and HACCP standards is started in its enterprise, located in Isani district of Tbilisi. The process is expected to complete within 9 months, the company said.

15. “GWP” SPENT 1.5M LARI ON MODERNIZATION OF CENTRAL LAB FOR WATER QUALITY CONTROL

    Georgian Water&Power (GWP, Tbilisi water company) reported that modernization of central laboratory for water quality control is completed. Modernization of this lab, located in Grmagele filtering station, cost the company 1.5 million lari.

18. “KIA MOTORS GEORGIA”: SALES HAVE INCREASED BY 50-60%

    KIA Motors Georgia (official office of Korean KIA in Georgia) has declared to Sarke that sales of the company increased by 50-60% compared with the last year.

    On average, 30-35 cars are being sold monthly, the company said, noting that demand has increased for economy cars.

19. NUMBER OF UTILITY PAYMENTS, MADE THROUGH “LIBERTY BANK”, INCREASED BY 14% IN Q3

    Liberty Bank reported about 2.17 million payments of utility bills, served by the bank in the 3^rd quarter. The figure is increased by 14% comparing to the 2^nd quarter of this year, while doubled comparing to the same period of the previous year.

20. WINE STORE OPENED IN DUTY FREE ZONE OF TBILISI AIRPORT

    ATU Georgia and TAV Georgia (operator of Tbilisi International Airport) have opened wine store Georgian Wines in duty-free zone of the airport today.

    The store offer wines of 12 Georgian companies (Badagoni, Tbilgvino, Teliani Valley, Kindzmarauli Wine Cellar, Bagrationi-1882, etc.).
