2. THE PREMIER: IN ORDER TO IMPROVE AIR QUALITY IN THE COUNTRY, RELEVANT POLICY IS WORKED OUT

   Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili declared that “in order to improve air quality in the country, development of relevant policy and introduction of effective mechanisms are underway”.

   “New legal regulations have been worked out, which will bring norms, set for petrol, in compliance with EURO-5 standards in 2017”, the Premier said.

3. THE GOVERNMENT EXPECTS REAL GDP GROWTH OF ANNUAL 5.5% IN 2017-2020

   The government released forecast, according to which real GDP growth in 2017-2020 will make up annual 5.5%.

   The forecast is provided in document, titled “Major Macroeconomic Forecasts and Core Areas of Georgia’s Ministries”, which was submitted by the government to the Parliament.

4. 7-KM SECTION OF EAST-WEST HIGHWAY OPENED

   The government reported about opening of 7-km part of Agara – Zemo Osiauri 12-km section of East-West highway (E60). Works on remaining 5 km have to be finished until end of the year.

5. THE GOVERNMENT TO PRESENT SOON ACTION PLAN ON INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT

   “In near future, we will hold presentation of complete action plan on infrastructure development”, Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili declared.

   The Premier specified that the plan “foresees development and construction of major infrastructure through-passages, as well as development of access roads to tourism infrastructure”.

6. Forbes Georgia: “GEORGIA’S HISTORY WRITTEN IN PANAMA”

   History of offshore companies’ establishment by Georgians through Mossack-Fonseca is as old as independence of this country, the article states.

   In parallel with collapse of Soviet Union, Georgian lawyers appear in documents, as assignees, having full authority to represent offshore companies, while very soon, Georgians start establishment of own offshore companies, author of the article says.

7. 40-MEMBER KAZAKH DELEGATION ATTEND KAZAKHSTAN-GEORGIA BUSINESS FORUM

   Today, Tbilisi hosted Kazakhstan-Georgia business forum, being attended by 40-member Kazakh delegation. As Georgia’s Economy and Sustainable Development Ministry said, investment projects in agriculture, tourism, real estate, logistics, retail trade and other spheres of economic were presented within the event.

8. THE GOVERNMENT: “CNFA” CONTINUES ACTIVITY IN GEORGIA

   Administration of the government reported that American non-commercial organization Citizens’ Network for Foreign Affairs (CNFA) continues operation in Georgia. CNFA has implemented 8 projects in the country, of which 3 ones are still ongoing.

9. NEW EDUCATION MINISTER NOMINATED

   Today, Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili has presented Aleksandre Jejelava as candidate on post of Education and Science Minister.

   Kvirikashvili thanked former minister Tamar Sanikidze for her important efforts in the office, noting that she will remain in the team and her new mandate will be disclosed in near future.

10. VICE-PRESIDENT OF CHINA’S STATE COUNCIL VISITS TBILISI

    Today, Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili has met with China’s First Vice-Premier Zhang Gaoli. Chinese delegation arrived to Georgia yesterday and the visit will last until June 4.

11. “SILK ROAD BANK” REPORTED LOSS FOR Q1

    Silk Road Bank reported loss of 694,760 lari for the 1^st quarter. In the same period of 2015, the bank had profit of 2.46 million lari.

    Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili declared that issue of Republican ministers will be decided “in a civilized manner”.

    “Cooperation will be continued with the Republican ministers; it fully depends upon their decision as well as the moment of their active engagement in the pre-election campaigning”, the Premier told journalists.

    The article reports that there are 1,483 cooperatives in Georgia now, and leader in these terms is Samtskhe-Javakheti region, where 340 cooperatives are registered. Kvemo Kartli is the second with 218 cooperatives, while Ajara with 153 cooperatives – the third.

    Today, Georgian government has announced about launch of implementation of the project of Technology Institute, stressing that it is “the fifth in scale after Italy, Switzerland, Japan and Austria” and costs “several millions euro”. While announcing this project in October of last year, the government named estimated cost as 500 million EUR.
