    Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation informed that 9 companies applied for the tender, announced on construction of 47-km Kutaisi-Abasha section of gas main. Among the companies are both Georgian and foreign companies.

    Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation informed that Abasha-Senaki 29-km section of gas main will be build by Azeri company Neftgaztikinti Trust. The Corporation signed cooperation agreement with this company yesterday.

    Ministry of Education and Science starts the second stage of issuing vouchers to seekers of vocational education. Now, 1,500 vouchers with value of 1,000 lari per each are planned to issue.

  4. “SILKNET” OFFERED NEW PACKS IN REGIONS

    Communications operator SilkNet announced that new 7- and 10-lari packs are now available for private users of fixed network in regions.

    The company said that 5-lari pack was the only available in regions so far, except Kutaisi, where it made up 2.50 lari.

  6. “WIZZ AIR UKRAINE” TO START FLIGHTS TO GEORGIA

    Georgian Agency for Civil Aviation informed that low-budget Ukrainian carrier Wizz Air Ukraine will start flights to Georgia.

    The air company will perform flights between Kiev and Kutaisi from September, as soon as Kopitnari Airport is opened.

  7. “SILKNET” ACCOUNTS FOR 76% OF THE MARKET IN TERMS OF DSL USERS’ NUMBER

    National Communication Commission reported that SilkNet accounted for 76% of the market in terms of DSL-subscribers’ number in 2011.

    This company had 155,012 DSL-subscribers by late 2011, increasing their number by 17.3% since the 1st quarter of that year.

  8. CDMA HAS MORE USERS THAN PSTN

    National Communication Commission reported that important change took place on fixed telephony market in 2011: number of users of wireless technologies (CDMA) exceeded number of subscribers of wired communications (public switched telephone network, PSTN).

    By the end of the 4th quarter, number of CDMA subscribers made up 731,637, while of PSTN – 590,845.

  9. “ALDAGI BCI”: LIABILITIES ON HOSPITAL SECTOR DEVELOPMENT PROJECT ARE FULFILLED

    Insurance company Aldagi BCI announced that its subsidiary My Family Clinic has fulfilled its liabilities on the hospital sector development project.

    The company opened yesterday medical center in Kutaisi (clinical hospital of Imereti region), which complies with international standards.

    Kutaisi City Hall reported that Shitrit Group Georgia completed construction of Empire Hotel in historical part of the city. Investment in the construction amounted to $$1.6 million.

    Administration of Samegrelo – Zemo Svaneti region reported that construction of metallurgical plant has been already launched in Senaki, which should be finished by 2013. Construction is conducting by French investors, who plan to invest 20 million lari on the first stage.

  13. NUMBER OF “SOLO” CLIENTS OF “SAKARTVELOS BANKI” RAISED BY 50.6% DURING A YEAR

    Sakartvelos Banki (Bank of Georgia) reported that number of clients of its personal banking service SOLO made up 4,041 as of March 31, 2012. The number has increased by 50.6% (i.e. by 1,358 clients) year-on-year.

    Zaza Kheladze, director of Kutaisi Scientific-Information Association Asa, notes that water tariff is being constantly increased, starting from 2007. In 2010, cost of 1 cubic m has reached 27 tetri, while now it makes up 49 tetri in Kutaisi.

    JSC TELASI reported that Energy Efficiency Center of InterRAO EES (owner of TELASI), jointly with Energy Efficiency Georgia and Kutaisi Mayor Office, implemented pilot project on modernization of outdoor illumination in Kutaisi.

    Within the project, about 30 modern LED bulbs were installed on Agmashenebeli Avenue, being switched to automated system of energy counting, created specially for this project.
