   State Treasury Service reported that planned volume of VAT in 2016 was 3.8 billion lari, while factual mobilization made up 86%, i.e. the plan had deficiency of 515.6 million lari.

   Responding to the magazine’s question regarding reasons of gap in VAT mobilization, Deputy Finance Minister and head of the Revenue Service Giorgi Tabuashvili responded that “Deficiency is not a proper word”.

   Refinancing rate, making up 6.5% now, has not been changed since September. If until now, National Bank of Georgia (NBG) justified maintenance of monetary policy rate by low level of inflation, now this parameter has been changed too, the newspaper says.

3. EBRD’S PRESIDENT: I HOPE THAT THIS YEAR WE WILL ABLE TO INVEST 300M EUR IN GEORGIA

   “I hope, we will be able to invest 300 million EUR in Georgia this year”, declared Suma Chakrabarti, president of EBRD.

   In 2016, EBRD has invested about 250 million EUR in the country.

4. ECONOMY MINISTRY: WITHIN DAVOS WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM, THE MINISTER HELD MEETINGS WITH MINISTERS OF QATAR, SAUDI ARABIA AND EGYPT

   Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that within the World Economic Forum in Davos, the Minister Giorgi Gakharia has met with the Qatari Minister of Economy and Commerce. The considerations scoped attraction of Qatari investments to Georgia, Georgian Ministry said.

5. THE GOVERNMENT’S ADMINISTRATION: WITHIN DAVOS WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM, GEORGIAN PREMIER HOLDS MEETINGS WITH COMPANIES’ HEADS

   Administration of Georgian government reported that Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili holds meetings with heads of the companies, which take part in the World Economic Forum in Davos.

   Particularly, the Premier has met with Robert Dudley, executive director of BP, and discussed issues, related to Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline and expansion of South Caucasus gas pipeline project.

6. ECONOMY MINISTRY: DESIGNER ZVIAD TSIKOLIA MAY LAUNCH ENTERPRISE WITHIN “PRODUCE IN GEORGIA” PROJECT

   The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development declared that Georgian industrial designer Zviad Tsikolia may launch an enterprise within “Produce in Georgia” state project.

   According to the Ministry, Tsikolia and the Minister Giorgi Gakharia have already considered the mentioned issue.

7. GEORGIA PARTICIPATES IN INTERNATIONAL TOURISM FAIR IN MADRID

   Administration of the government announced that Georgia is taking part in international tourism fair in Madrid.

   The administration said that today, King of Spain Felipe VI has visited Georgian exhibition pavilion.

   In connection with contract, signed with Russian Gazprom, the Parliament minority summons the Energy Minister to the Parliament, the magazine reports.

   MP Giorgi Kandelaki, member of the newly created fraction European Georgia, says that “Instead of halved tariffs that Bidzina Ivanishvili [billionaire ex-premier] had promised to Georgian people, we’ve got decision, harmful for Georgia’s sovereignty”.

9. THE GOVERNMENT: GEORGIA TO BE HONORED GUEST AT FRANKFURT BOOK FAIR IN 2018

   In 2018, Georgia will take part in Frankfurt Book Fair as honored guest country, administration of Georgian government announced.

   The administration said that issues, related to the country’s status as honored guest of the Fair, were discussed in Tbilisi today at the meeting of Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Frankfurt Book Fair’s director Juergen Boos.

10. AIRPORT OPENED IN AMBROLAURI

    In Ambrolauri (Racha region), new airport was opened on January 14, which terminal’s construction was started in October 2016. At the first stage, the airport will serve to aircrafts with 15-20 seats.

As the government pointed, the US company, which runs terminals in 9 countries, holds negotiations on the subject with Anaklia Development Consortium, investor of Anaklia port.
