    Supreme Council of Ajara has approved new Cabinet today. As the government of autonomous republic mentioned, all four candidates, of which two are new faces, were presented by new head of the government of Ajara Zurab Pataradze.

  2. 11-KM SECTION OF HIGHWAY OPENED

    Today, another section of the country’s major transit highway E60 (Bashi-Dapnari, 11 km in length) was opened and traffic was shifted to a new road, the government reported.

    As Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili pointed at the opening ceremony, “This road will allow travelers to bypass densely populated Samtredia and travel more quickly, comfortably and safely”.

    According to official data, National Tourism Administration holds marketing campaigns mainly in post-Soviet countries (Russia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan), but Georgia’s online ads appear in Italy, Germany, Israel, Kuwait, Qatar or Emirates, the magazine says.

    “Marketing campaign will have less effect without visa-free travel, direct flights and recognizability of the country”, head of the Administration Giorgi Chogovadze declares and notes: “We did not have direct flights even with the biggest cities of Europe”.

    Johannes Hahn, European Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, declared in Tbilisi that “I am sure that visa liberalization will became available for Georgia no later than early October”.

    “We spare no effort to ensure this and vast majority of member states as well as European Parliament support this idea, because there is a broad understanding and acknowledgement that Georgia has fulfilled all its conditions”, Hahn said (quotas are provided according to report of administration of Georgian government).

    The government decided to subsidize vintage this year also. Before the government meeting today, Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili declared: “The government decided to subsidize different sorts of grape with different pricing”.

    At the meeting today, the government approved state program on support of privatization of agricultural land plots in some settlements, being in factual ownership of private individuals.

    The government specified that the matter concerns those citizens, who did not receive agricultural lands during land reform, conducted years ago, but factually own this property for 15 years at least.

    According to the World Bank’s latest classification, Georgia moved to group of countries with middle and high income, the Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili declared today at the government meeting. Until now, the country was in group of lower-middle income countries.

    Agriculture Ministry reported that Georgian Wine House, occupying area of 600 square m, is opened in Urumqi of China’s province Xinjiang.

    Giorgi Samanishvili, chairman of Georgian National Wine Agency, who attended the opening ceremony, said that “before end of the year, more 4 Georgian wine houses are planned to open, each storing about 10,000-12,000 bottles of wine”.
