    The government declared that Microsoft will equip free of charge 32 schools of Georgia with WiFi technology during academic year 2016-2017.

    Microsoft signed respective memorandum with Georgia’s Ministry of Education and Science.

  2. ECONOMY MINISTRY: “ISEKO” LAUNCHED NEW PRODUCTION LINE

    Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that LLC Iseko (steel pipes manufacturing) has launched new production line within “Produce in Georgia” state program.

    According to the Ministry, Iseko has invested about 3 million lari and hired about 30 new workers for its new manufacturing direction.

  3. NBG EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR: WE SHOULD EVOKE INTEREST TO CULTURE OF SAVINGS FROM THE EARLY AGE OF OUR FUTURE GENERATION

    “We should evoke interest to culture of savings from the early age of our future generation, this (…) is of vital importance for financial education and excludes problems in this field in future”, executive director of National Bank of Georgia (NBG) Giorgi Melashvili declared.

    Events, dedicated to World Savings Day, which taken start in Georgia today, will last until November 5.

    Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili met with Azerbaijan’s Economy Minister Shahin Mustafayev in Tbilisi today, administration of Georgian government reported.

    According to the administration, “Parties discussed expansion of existing economic corridors and prospects of new ones’ development, which will support growth of freight turnover”.

  5. THE GOVERNMENT: DESIGNING OF AERODROME IN OMALO VILLAGE OF AKHMETA MUNICIPALITY BEGINS

    The government declared that designing of aerodrome in Omalo village of Akhmeta municipality (mountainous area Tusheti in the north of Kakheti region) is to be launched.

    During consideration of the mentioned issue at the government meeting today, Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili expressed hope that construction of runway and airport in Omalo would be finished in near future, administration of the government said.

  6. THE GOVERNMENT: EU TO ALLOCATE GRANT OF 30M EUR FOR GEORGIA’S PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION REFORM

    EU will allocate grant of 30 million EUR for Georgia’s reform of public administration, Georgian government announced.

    Details of the grant agreement will be disclosed at the briefing of Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and the EU ambassador to Georgia Janos Herman, scheduled on October 28.

    Draft budget-2017 envisages governmental spending of 10.5 billion lari, which exceeds by 410 million lari same showing of the current year’s budget.

    Despite this growth, the budget does not reflect pledges of Georgian Dream, which will be included in the updated version of the budget, according to the Finance Ministry, the magazine reports.

  12. THE GOVERNMENT: $680M TO BE SPEND FOR 8 PROJECTS IN TBILISI, GURIA, AJARA AND SAMEGRELO

    Tourism Development Fund, established by Georgian Co-Investment Fund, will implement 8 projects in Tbilisi, Guria, Ajara and Samegrelo, having total cost of $680 million, the government declared.

    “Out of this sum, 259 million lari has been already invested”, Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili pointed at the new fund’s presentation, held in Tbilisi today.

  13. GOVERNMENT: GEORGIA STARTS MANUFACTURING OF MODERN ELECTRIC LOCOMOTIVES

    The government declared that the plant will be built in Tbilisi, which will manufacture modern rolling stocks. For this purpose, Georgian Railway and Georgian-Chinese company signed respective agreement in Tbilisi today.

    Giorgi Kepuladze, head of non-governmental organization Society and Banks, pointed that duty of National Bank of Georgia (NBG) “is to secure financial stability; besides, it should soften sharp fluctuations of currency rate, if they are caused by transient factors”. “Probably, interventions, made by NBG during last week, aimed at this very target”, he noted.
