    It seems that lari has started move toward strengthening already for several days, while yesterday, the rate had jump-like strengthened, the newspaper says. Particularly, the US dollar rate has decreased from 2.4620 GEL/USD to 2.4225 GEL/USD.

    By the Prime Minister’s initiative, constantly operating format of dialogue with representatives of small and medium business will be created, administration of the government declared.

    At the meeting today, the Premier Giorgi Kvirikashvili offered representatives of small and medium business to create initiative group, which will report offers and problems of this segment of business to the government in order to facilitate rapid reaction of the government.

  3. THE GOVERNMENT: MONITORING OF NON-ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES MARKET WILL CONTINUE DURING ABOUT 6 MONTHS

    Administration of the government said that monitoring of non-alcoholic beverages market will continue during supposedly 6 months. In particular, increase of the production quantity will be calculated and final decision regarding production marking will be made after complex analysis.

  4. “PRODUCE IN GEORGIA” PROGRAM’S COMPONENT ON HOTEL INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT DOES NOT APPLY TO TBILISI AND BATUMI

    The government declared that new component of state program “Produce in Georgia” envisages development of hotel industry in regions, except Tbilisi and Batumi.

    The government noted that through this component, investor will be able to enjoy state co-financing for building a new hotel, expanding/upgrading existing infrastructure, signing franchising contract and bringing foreign brand to Georgia.

  5. Bankebi da Finansebi: “IF “BEELINE” ACQUIRES “CAUCASUS ONLINE”, INTERNET TARIFFS WILL BE SUBSTANTIALLY CUT”

    In his interview with the newspaper, director of Mobitel (Beeline trademark) Giorgi Tkeshelashvili confirms that the company plans to buy only retail segment of Caucasus Online and does not have other interest.

    “If nothing will hamper the transaction, we plan to buy retail network, while main trunk will remain in ownership of current owners”, Tkeshelashvili declares.

    Giorgi Kadagidze’s term of office as president of National Bank of Georgia (NBG) expired on February 25 and since that, lari is strengthening gradually, the newspaper notes.

    Expert Vazha Kapanadze thinks that “there were no macroeconomic parameters in Georgia, which could cause depreciation of lari by 46%”.

  8. BUSINESS OMBUDSMAN: LAW, PROHIBITING IMPORT OF RHD VEHICLES, WILL BE DELAYED FOR A YEAR

    Business Ombudsman Giorgi Gakharia declared that decision is almost made, which will delay for a year enactment of law, prohibiting import of Right-Hand-Drive (RHD) vehicles.

    Business Ombudsman has declared he mentioned at the meeting, held today with representatives of RHD vehicles’ exporter and importer companies, as well as forwarders

    As administration of the government noted, businessmen demanded delay of the law enactment, as consider that launch of new regulations from March may cause additional problems for them.

    Term of office of Giorgi Kadagidze as president of National Bank of Georgia (NBG), who occupied this post since 2009, expires on February 25, the newspaper says.

    Before Kadagidze’s appointment, NBG was actually without the president and vice-president David Amaglobeli combined functions of acting president then, the newspaper reminds and points that in early 2009, cancelation of NBG, as well as replacement of lari as the only payment mean through introduction of multi-currency regime were actively discussed.

    The magazine reports that at the meetings with business associations, Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili has announced launch of construction of highways, linking Kutaisi with Akhaltsikhe, as well as Tbilisi with Azerbaijan’s border and mountainous regions.

    However, infrastructure Minister Nodar Javakhishvili told the magazine that projects of these highways will not be ready before late 2016 and respectively, did not name expected costs and sources of funding.

    Leader of political movement For Happy Georgia, president of Kiev Bank Union Leonid Chernovetskiy considers that “online crediting organizations, pawnshops and other financial organizations of similar kind are robbing Georgian population”.

    Chernovetskiy (Mayor of Kiev in 2006-2012), living in Georgia now, addressed Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili with open letter, demanding to solve the mentioned issue.

  12. Rezonansi: “BIDZINA PLANS ANOTHER GOVERNMENTAL CAROUSEL?”

    Referring to several, including own, sources, the newspaper declares that “governmental carousel” is expected in March.

    Particularly, the newspaper predicts that David Zalkaliani will be appointed as Foreign Minister, Mikheil Janelidze – as Economy Minister and Dimitri Kumsishvili – as Finance Minister.

    “Today, we have only one ski track in Tetnuldi, however, we plan to put more 3 ropeways in operation before end of the year”, Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili declared. “At the same time, we plan to build additional cableway, connecting Mulakhi village to Tetnuldi base”, he said.

  15. SECOND STAGE OF REGISTRATION FOR STATE PROGRAM ON BEEKEEPERS COOPERATIVES’ PROMOTION TO START ON FEBRUARY 29

    Administration of the government announced that the second stage of registration for state program on beekeepers agriculture cooperatives’ promotion will be opened on February 29 and last until March 16.

    Registration for the program was announced in October 2015, cooperatives were offered state co-funding in order to get hive at 30% of cost.

  17. THE GOVERNMENT: “PRODUCE IN GEORGIA” PROGRAM AMENDED

    The government decided to decrease lower limit of credits, issued by commercial banks for enterprises’ establishment within “Produce in Georgia” program from 250 000 lari to 150,000 lari and from $150 000 to $75,000.

    Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili declared the mentioned before the government’s meeting today, pointing: “We took into account needs of small enterprises and lowered the threshold for enterprises, which apply for funding”.

  18. THE GOVERNMENT: IRISH “RYANAIR” INTERESTED IN GEORGIAN MARKET

    The government’s administration declared that Irish low-coster Ryanair has expressed interest towards Georgia’s market.

    The administration said that possibilities of launch of flights to Kutaisi were discussed at the working meeting between Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and commercial director of Ryanair David O’Brien.

  19. OPPOSITION MP ACCUSES “GEORGIAN DREAM” IN UNFULFILLED PLEDGES

    Giorgi Ghviniashvili, MP from oppositional United National Movement, criticizes the government due to changed consumer tariffs in Kakheti region.

    As Ghviniashvili declared, “In the most difficult spring of the fourth year (of Georgian Dream’s ruling), the government raised electricity tariffs to Kakheti residents by 4 tetri”.

  20. PREMIER: SPECIAL SERVICE WILL BE ESTABLISHED IN NEAR FUTURE, WHICH WILL OVERSEE PROJECTS’ IMPLEMENTATION BY INSTITUTIONS

    Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili declared that special service will be established, being in charge for oversight of projects’ implementation by various ministries or agencies. This service will be established under the Prime Minister’s office in next few days, he said.
