    She indicated that “claimant is the sheikh, who is the judge and member of the prosecutor’s family, absolutely everything is built on clan system” and added: “this court has absolutely no degree of trust”.

    Referring to Gulf Business, the article reports that criminal court in the United Arab Emirates sentenced in absentia former head of Ras Al Khaimah Investment Authority (RAKIA) Khater Massaad and former executives of this company, Gela Mikadze (member of Georgian Parliament from Alliance of Patriots) and Giorgi Janashia, for 15-year imprisonment each.

    Besides, court imposed on Mikadze liability to reimburse $12.8 million, while on Janashia – $4.4 million.

    Within visit of Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili to Jordan (May 20), agreement on cooperation in tourism sphere was signed between the two countries, Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported.

    From the Georgian party, the document was signed by Deputy Minister of Economy Gennady Arveladze, who said that the parties agreed to establish working group for encouragement of tour operators.

    Tbilisi city court declared that consideration is completed regarding one of accused in the case of development company Center Point, initiated “on assistance to seizure of funds by deception, embezzlement of large funds and concealment of property”.

    The matter concerns agreement on property assignation, signed in 2010 between Center Point (Maya Rcheulishvili, Vakhtang Rcheulishvili and Rusudan Kervalishvili) and management company Dexus.

  12. GEORGIA’S REPRESENTATIVE IS RECOMMENDED FOR THE POST OF UNWTO SECRETARY GENERAL

    At the session, which took place on May 12 in Madrid, executive council of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) recommended Zurab Pololikashvili for a post of the secretary general of UNWTO.

    The decision has to be approved by general assembly (UNWTO), which will take place in China in September.

    Administration of Georgian government said that “at the meeting, consideration scoped continuation of active cooperation with Germany in the sphere of development that includes projects in a set of the important directions”.

  14. CHINESE SILK ROAD FUND AND GEORGIAN MINISTRY OF ECONOMY TO ESTABLISH JOINT WORKING GROUP

    Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that within visit to China, the Minister Giorgi Gakharia held meeting with top management of the Silk Road Fund.

    The parties agreed on establishment of the joint working group, which will work on specific projects’ development, the Ministry said.

    Financial agreement, envisaging allocation of 32 million EUR by the EU to Georgia, was signed in Tbilisi today, within visit of Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn to Georgia.

    The funds, within Technical Cooperation Facility (TCF), are designated for support of implementation of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement.
